Joik singing is an ancient tradition of the Sámis the indigenous people in the very north of Finland. And the accordion is a very popular folk instrument among all Finns. But until now no Finn nor Sámi before has put these two traditions together – and that is what VILDÁ is about. The music of the duo is an original blend of mystical joiks grooving rhythms and improvisation inspired by the Sámi’s strong connection to nature with a dash of modern pop and Finnish folk. VILDÁ’s debut album Vildaluodda – Wildprint came out April 2019 via Bafe’s Factory.
