O’Carolan – Folklore & Cross Roads

March 26, 2020

Created by Are We Europe

“In Zaragoza, Spain, a group of musicians is playing instruments that sound—different. The city is a melting pot of Roman, Christian, Islamic and Sephardic cultural artefacts. O’Carolan continues this trend of cultural fluidity through their music, which is played on an exceptional arsenal of (sometimes ancient) Irish instruments. All of these cultures left some of their melodies behind, they explain. When you play those melodies, they come alive.”

This documentary is part of the Discover series, a collaboration between the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards and Are We Europe. This project is cofunded by the Creative Europe programme.
