Education Programme
Every year, the MME Awards organize an educational day during Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS). It's designed especially for artists on the brink of moving from emerging to breakthrough. The day is packed with panels, keynotes and workshops from leading industry professionals. You get a chance to learn from them and to link up for future opportunities (for instance, getting booked at Sziget Festival or synced in an upcoming movie).
What is the Education Programme?
Education Programme packed afternoon where all nominees are invited to meet important bookers (of Sziget Festival, Reeperbahn Festival and many more) and other music professionals and to learn from them. It's a day where you learn about digital strategy, mental health, a cultural rider, challenges of green touring, syncing music, independent labels and more.
Last year's success stories
Last year, the first talk from Sudha Kheterpal (percussionist for Faithless, Kylie Minogue and more) was an inspiring one. She knows a lot about the pressure of touring, creating new music and having a fandom. Maintaining mental health through all that can be very challenging. Sudha told us more on how to navigate that.
The talk with Caspar Harvey (Manager of artist Sans Soucis) and Isabeau Keurntjes (Paradiso) about a cultural rider made a big impression. Diversity and inclusion is a relevant topic, and learning how to combine this with touring is essential. Sans Soucis is a non-binary artist, and addresses their pronouns in their rider. Caspar talks about getting venues to take responsibility for inclusion. In addition to that, we talked about feeling safe, food preferences, behavioral preferences, pronouns, neurodiversity and more.
Later in the day, Laura Bell (Music Supervisor) gave attendees an inside scoop into syncing. She explained her own process behind finding the right music for films, commercials or series. Additionally, she shared how the industry behind syncing works and which parties are involved.
