Ayọ is a German Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress whose music career began after early performances in London, Paris and New York led to a contract with Polydor Records. Her debut album “Joyful,” recorded live in New York and released in 2006, achieved Double-Platinum status in France, Platinum in Germany and Poland, and Gold in Switzerland, Italy and Greece. She toured extensively across Europe and North America, appearing on major television programs and collaborating with musicians such as Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. In 2008 she recorded her second album “Gravity at Last,” which topped the French album charts and was supported by a large European tour. Alongside her musical success she was appointed UNICEF patron to promote children’s right to education.
