Jan 14 / 2025

Just appointed and already making waves across borders: European Commissioner Glenn Micallef will visit ESNS and our award ceremony to see culture put into practise. Glenn took office as the European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport on December 1, 2024.

As you know, at the ceremony, seven MME Awards are handed out to extraordinarily talented and emerging European artists. Commissioner Micallef will hand out the Public Choice Award to the artist who was voted for the most by fans across the world.

Anna van Nunen, Managing Director of ESNS, is very honoured to welcome European Commissioner Micallef to the festival, which highlights emerging European artists and is visited by thousands of global music professionals annually in January.

“I firmly believe that culture has the power to unite us, reinforcing our shared European identity, particularly among young people. Commissioner Micallef’s decision to make one of his first public appearances at the ESNS music festival is a powerful inspiration, encouraging us to further build on our shared vision. Together, we will continue to shine a spotlight on European talent, celebrating the richness of their cultural and musical diversity in collaboration with Europe’s vibrant music ecosystem.”

After the Awards Ceremony, Micallef will be available to meet the media, artists and music professionals. And that's not all, he will close his evening with visiting performances by several of the 15 nominated artists. Will you join him? See you there!
