Introducing: Kingfishr
Kingfishr share 16 songs that inspire them to create art and we chat with them about things (almost!) nobody knows about the band... ;-) Can you keep a secret?
Before you start reading, get into the vibe that is Kingfishr. Kingfishr have created a playlist of 16 tracks that inspired them. They say: “Rather than pick songs we think sound like ‘Kingfishr', we've each picked songs that first inspired/currently inspire us to make music.”
Let's get started! Speaking of starting. Where do people begin when they want to listen to your music?
'Shot in the Dark' is a time stamp of the moment we decided to give this everything we have. It's the best start point, everything builds from there.
And what should we know about you?
We are essentially three farmers from rural Ireland, writing songs about personal experiences of growing up and transitioning into the crazy world that is music.
Who do people listen to if they'll like you?
U2, Snow Patrol, Bruce Springsteen, Noah Kahan, Mumford and Sons, Zach Bryan, Bears Den and The Lumineers.
Can you tell us a little secret?
Fitz: I grew up playing hurling and played for almost 20 years. I thought my life would revolve around that and had I not really badly injured my knee I never would have played music. It's funny how things work out.
McGoo: McGoo comes from a strong farming background, and is very into horticulture. He has maybe 1000 plants of varying types at the farmhouse.
Eddie: While Eddie had been writing stories from a young age, he didn't start to play guitar until he got to college at 18 years old.
What do people like if they listen to your music?
Cows, pints, picking stones and a good mass. Honestly we're from rural Ireland, there isn't a whole lot we like that other people like too.
Why should people go see your show?
Our gig mentality is very simple, we're going on stage to have the best time we can and I think the audience responds to that. Don't worry about knowing the songs walking in, you'll know them walking out!
