Introducing: UCHE YARA
UCHE YARA shares 20 songs that inspire her to create art and we chat with her about things (almost!) nobody knows about her... ;-) Can you keep a secret?
Before you start reading, get into the vibe that is UCHE YARA. UCHE's created a playlist of 20 tracks that inspired her. She says: "I think this playlist gives a good insight into how eclectic my music taste is. These songs inspire me in different ways—be it Jill Scott’s sassy attitude or the atmospheric heartbreak of 070 shake."
Let's get started! Speaking of starting. Where do people begin when they want to listen to your music?
Woow that‘s such a hard one! I have so many facets and try out so many different things constantly. But for now I‘d say, let‘s start with 'SASHA (wake up!)'.
And what should we know about you?
I write, produce, and play all my music myself. Every song starts in my head—music first, then lyrics. I’m a tea drinker, coffee feels like a heart attack to me. I‘m obsessed with blending elements from completely different contexts, not just in the studio but in the kitchen too. Sweet 'n sour combos are my soft spot when cooking.
Who do people listen to if they'll like you?
Little Simz, Tyler, The Creator, Bilderbuch, 070 shake, Kässy, Wet Leg and Blood Orange.
Can you tell us a little secret?
Super sweet, greasy, cheap store-bought lemon cake is my guilty pleasure. I could eat tons of it every day.
What do people like if they listen to your music?
Warmth and presence. Good listeners. Open-mindedness for new things.
Why should people go see your show?
My band and I will take you on a captivating, versatile and inspirational journey. Music knows no boundaries, and sharing this moment of pure energy with you will let you fully embrace the here and now. Can‘t wait to see you!
