This is how it works

Dua Lipa, Stromae, Adele, girl in red, Oscar and the Wolf, Hozier, Christine and the Queens, Tove Lo, Years & Years, Disclosure, Icona Pop, Ralphie Choo, Zaho de Sagazan, Pip Blom, The Script, ROSALÍA, Sigrid, Hozier and Naaz all won a Music Moves Europe (MME) Award at the start of their career. Quite the list, if we may say so ourselves. Ready to be next in line?

The Music Moves Europe Awards are organized by European showcase festival Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) in partnership with Reeperbahn Festival and co-funded by the Creative Europe program. It gets the support of a unique alliance of music industry partners, who will all help you succeed in your career.

Each year, 15 emerging artists are nominated and eligible to win an MME Award. As a nominee, you are given the opportunity to perform at the Eurosonic Festival (ESNS) in front of major festival bookers and industry professionals. PSYCHED! A selection of nominees and winners will also be invited to play at another showcase festival (Reeperbahn Festival) in Germany. There are three ways to win an Award. There's an MME Award, a Grand Jury Award and a Public Choice Award.

Three chances to win

  • The 5 winners of an MME Award are honored with prize money of €10.000. You get an epic award, designed by a prestigious design studio. You can see previous winner Sans Soucis (IT) sleeping with it below. It's no small feat. (And a great bed mate).
  • The winner of The Grand Jury Award (of course chosen by our jury members) wins €10.000 and the Green Touring Voucher of €5.000. The latter will help you with support for a more sustainable tour. For instance: green merch! Plastic-free CDs. Sustainable transport. You name it.
  • Last but not least, the highly regarded Public Choice Award is decided by the fans of nominated artists in a voting campaign. The artist with the most votes wins, including €5.000 and a Deezer Session.
Selection committee

The selection committee works with data from SoundCharts enriched with data on bookings in venues and festivals. These data are then supplemented with recommendations of more than 300 European music industry professionals, who name favorite emerging artists in the country they live in and from another European country.
