The MME Awards network of music professionals

These professionals work in all areas of the music sector and have a good overview of what is happening. Especially around the emerging artists in their country that have set their first steps towards an international career. For the MME Awards they are the eyes and ears in the vibrant and growing European music landscape. Currently music professionals from over 200 organsitations out of 36 countries receive our request for their input. Most of the professionals are represented by one of the Partners of the MME Awards and the EBU Radio stations.

Every year in May we ask them to recommend us artists that qualify. Their recommendations are then added to our database and enriched with data from Soundcharts - airplay, streaming and social media figures. Each year hundreds of emerging artists from almost 40 countries end up in the MME Awards database.

During each summer the MME Awards selection team will crunch the input and come up with 15 nominees, each from a different European country representing the (musical) diversity of the continent. With the highly valued input of the network of professionals this selection process reflects the sound of Europea of today and tomorrow!

The two main qualifiers for recommending artists to the Music Moves Europe Awards are:

1 - Artist should be active outside their home country; we want to see activity across Europe or even worldwide. This activity can reflect in live shows, streaming or airplay.

2 - The MME Awards nominations are for artists that are still emerging/didn't break yet. The mission of the MME Award is to highlight European talent and support them in their promising careers.

Furthermore:

We ask the professionals to recommend artists from their home country first and then consider adding artists from other eligible countries..

They can recommend artists whose debut EP/album was not released more than 36 months before 1st of June of the year of recommendation. And/or in the past 60 months did not release more than 5 singles in a collection larger than 2 songs.

The artist did not participate in the Eurovision song contest.
